Coming back to web development service, it is not only about web design and development but a good variety of other services as required by different business houses. The custom web application for a finance website will be way different from that designed and developed for a travel business. Here enters the concept of customization which is, in short, tailored-made work in response to the customer’s specifications. It is the difference in treatment that makes an application different from other ones.

Examining the Future of IT Outsourcing UK

The IT monsters in the UK gain benefits through outsourcing. They have established network connections through which they tap into the offshore employees’ potentials and introduce more innovations into the projects. Now let us examine the future of outsourcing and whether the IT outsourcing UK firms will stand the test of time.

There are a lot of positive sides of outsourcing. It has heavily contributed to the industrial boom in the developing nations. New job scopes have been created, thereby making a huge difference in the lives of the people. It has been iterated several times that outsourcing is inspired by the possibility of cost-cut as the companies get to make a considerable reduction in what might have been given out as salary if the works would have been done in house. Now the prime question boils down to - whether IT outsourcing UK companies are going to fit in the future schemes.

Globalization has reached an unimaginable high and the credit goes to internet and other hi-tech medium of communication. And all these have paved way for outsourcing and its phenomenal growth. Outsourcing has developed a prospective business relation between two parties. End of outsourcing – that has taken the IT industry by storm for a decade – means a blow to both sides involved in foreign business tie-up. So, will it ever be possible for the IT outsourcing UK companies to stop contracting out works overseas? The offshore companies will definitely be a loser but will the outsourcing firms continue to reap rewards even after mutual break-up?

First of all, let us once again harp on the same strings that outsourcing has grown not only on the strength of cost-effective offshore service. In fact, one of the stepping stones of huge success that these offshore IT firms have achieved is they have been able to provide high-end service. India – the top-most name on the map of offshore outsourcing companies – has qualified and skilled employees, the majority of which have high proficiency in English language. Yes, there are some problems in outsourcing works but then are onshore operations without any hiccups? Definitely not!

So, we see that few IT firms in the UK are bringing back their offshore works. But there is always another side of a coin. So, a lot of companies still farm out works to the third party. They will continue to do so in future implying that outsourcing is to stay in days to come but may not be enjoying the same level of prospect by that time.

Offshore Outsourcing Companies – Benefits Have Brought Them into Limelight

UK economy is yet to recuperate from financial woes and this scenario has posed a serious problem for the companies which have dreamt of spreading their wings. Expansion has long been on their card but now dream seems to break into pieces. Actually the increasing level of operational cost has become sort of spoke in a wheel. There is a way to solve this – effective use of work outsourcing.

Outlining the benefits of outsourcing:

IT outsourcing UK has paved the way for partnering with an offshore firm. The basic logic behind such foreign tie-up is to import excellence at an economic rate. Now let us examine how the operational cost can be reduced to a comfortable level through outsourcing. When the UK companies contract out some particular jobs to the offshore business houses, they actually add to their savings by evading the expenses for buying new machineries, software, wages of additional workforce and maintenance cost of office premises.

Apart from cost-cut, outsourcing brings another major benefit in the form of high-end service from the offshore companies. These UK business firms are getting a larger pool of skilled workforce at their beck and call via online and it is a convincing reason for thriving of the offshore outsourcing companies in different developing countries. The offshore business organizations are quite flexible as far as service providing is concerned.

These UK IT firms – just like any other business organizations – want to stay at the top of the game. Having a ready-made and skilled external workforce helps them color their vision. The firms which are yet to join the outsourcing league are bearing heavy expenses to train their in-house employees but the neat result is not good enough.

According to different surveys, there is not enough IT trained human resources in the UK and they are least expected to drive an organization towards the direction of new success. So, the top-tier UK IT firms are worshiping the rising sun - offshore outsourcing companies!

Improvement in productivity

When works are sent offshore, expert professionals are entrusted with the toughest part. It ensures that the IT outsourcing UK firms will get topnotch service that they must struggle hard to get in their own country. The end result is these outsourcing business units are enjoying an overwhelming increase in productivity and performance.

Key Trends of IT Outsourcing UK

Outsourcing is just like a new wave smiting upon every industry, especially information technology. And it is the big IT giants which are optimizing their business benefits through outsourcing works. In this blog, we will restrict our focus to IT outsourcing UK.

UK or United Kingdom is the most grown-up market for outsourcing. If we go a few steps back and reach mid of 2011, we can see that UK outsourcing market was worth about £14 billion at that time. This fact was revealed by Equaterra on the basis of its survey on 200 companies which together have contracted out 650 works to the offshore IT services providers. Equaterra researchers have been watching the trend of outsourcing and on the basis of its survey report, have come to some important conclusions which are as follows:

·       UK has not yet got free of bad economic weather. So, outsourcing will continue. More than  eighty percent of these IT companies have already expressed that they will continue with the outsourcing works at current or higher level.
·      Cost reduction is still the driving force behind IT outsourcing UK. However, financial flexibility  is also becoming an important aspect in this whole scenario. According to the survey findings and analysis by Equaterra, this flexibility factor has gone up by fifteen percent on 2010 report.
·       Of different types of outsourcing, offshoring has caught the fancy of the IT companies in the UK. These companies have different delivery model for offshoring purpose. And if statistics to be believed, more than 75 percent of the IT outsourcing UK companies have gone for offshore services due to low cost factor and high work efficiency.
·        Multi-sourcing is on high demand. Research shows that bulk works from a single IT company result in poor satisfaction with the outsourcing deal.

EquaTerra’s Managing Director, Lee Ayling has told that the above-drawn conclusions and the report show a logical insight into the evolving dimension of the IT outsourcing in UK industry. One point is clear that cost-slashing is not the only factor to earn clients’ appreciation. According to Lee, while going into an outsourcing contract, both the service providers and takers must not give the price facto a priority, there are other things like quality of work and meeting of deadline which should be considered wisely. And last but not the least, IT outsourcing UK will stand to gain more success if it can ensure more cash flow through offer of flexible service.

IT Outsourcing UK – 2012 Scenario

The year 2012 is a witness to a wider adoption of ‘outsourcing’ formula by the IT software firms in the UK. More and more of the UK companies are outsourcing their works to dump their non-core activities and focus on the most essential business aspects. The target destination of outsource work can be divided into onshore, nearshore and offshore categories. Nearshore outsourcing is most popular for the UK companies followed by offshore outsourcing. And nearshore refers to a destination within the UK or 2 time zones away from it. On the other hand, offshore means the destination is more than 2 time zones away from the UK.

After recession, IT outsourcing UK is undergoing a new phase. The companies are more focused on cost cut but don’t want quality to suffer. They are considering top three factors before offsourcing to other countries. These factors include availability of a large pool of talent, proficiency in English and economic stability of the country. However, when it comes to bonding with an IT partner on offshore, the decisive factors in making a choice include recommendation from peers, realistic, flexible as well as unique business model and sensible HR scalability.

When it comes to finding a reliable IT partner, most of the IT outsourcing UK companies heavily rely on peer recommendation. A little more than 10 percent of the companies search for their partners through a publicly released RFI/RFP/RFQ. According to the survey report, most of the outsourcing IT houses in the UK is facing the challenge to overcome the communication gap between the IT service providers and the buyers. This year, 50 percent of the companies - responded to the survey - have admitted to have outsourced IT solutions through their ‘own development model’.

Near about 45 percent of the IT outsourcing UK survey respondents have confessed to have paid 25 percent more than the estimated budget in the contract and this way, they have managed to save only 25 percent on their operating cost. However, that does not make the companies go against the tide of outsourcing. In fact, 80 percent of the UK companies are still importing IT service from offshore and will continue to do so in coming days, the experts opine.
